FIG BILBAO celebrates its eighth edition with a strong international presence and a new program of engraving workshops.

This is one of the most outstanding events on the European artistic scene. Fully consolidated, the International Festival of Engraving and Art on Paper, FIG Bilbao, celebrates its eighth edition with an ambitious program that includes important developments. From November 14 to 17 the Euskalduna Palace in the Biscay capital will host more than fifty spaces and several conferences, live demonstrations and workshops that will reinforce the didactic character of a fair that seeks to publicise and support the contemporary image and art on paper in general. This year FIG Bilbao will open a program of engraving workshops with exhibitions of different engraving processes and techniques. The objective of this initiative is to intensify the informative nature of the fair and establish exchange networks with international print studios in order to achieve the mobility of artists and projects and promote and enhance positive artistic synergies.

With Argentina as guest country, representatives of art centres from Mexico, Switzerland and Portugal will also attend the fair. In its eighth edition, it opens a workshop program with exhibitions of different engraving techniques and processes.

Carmen Calvo, 2013 National Plastic Arts Award, is the guest artist at the Pilar Zubiaurre Session, in which she will discuss the role of women in the artistic world.

The multi-award-winning Mexican artist Alan Altamirano will demonstrate embossing techniques in the framework of the ‘Torkulo Ekintza’ program

FIG Bilbao programs the II Day of professional meetings and networking for artists, professionals and engraving and other printing technique institutions to promote an enriching international exchange
